Umicore works continuously on innovating and fine-tuning manufacturing techniques. No tube, welding seam, connection, branch or other component must have a weak spot. To achieve this we make use of strong process engineering, which is well supported by our Research & Development team.
Moreover, the art of success lies in gradual development from a hand-made approach to one that provides fully automated and fully maintained manufacturing with pioneering equipment. And even better: all our production processes can be adapted to accommodate the properties of the materials they deal with.
These days, we apply state-of-the-art machine welding (circular and longitudinal) and diffusion welding for FKS materials, thus substituting most of the hand welding seams. Laser and water jet cutting, spinning and hydraulic forming are self-evident and enable us to offer the best possible products for the market. Besides, we operate a unique fully automated laser-welding technology for bushing base-plates.
Mastering adaptability
Whenever we develop a solution for one of our customers, we don’t take the components off the shelf. We manufacture them individually in accordance with exactly calculated measurements and alloys. This enables us to meet the precise needs of every kind of glass producer.
